• Where do i start in Gnu/Linux?

First of all you all need to learn a little about History of Gnu/Linux. For that, follow the History of Gnu/Linux from the newbie section at gnulinuxclub.org

• Which Linux distribution to use?

Knoppix(knoppix.net ) or any Live CD based distro is good for starters
Next you can work on any Gnu/Linux distribution
Linux Mandrake is easy to use and install for newbies.
There are a lot of distributions out of the distributions that?I have tested
the best distribution for me has been Slackware, the latest is 10.1
but it is not for newbies but for advanced users in Gnu/Linux

• How do i get the distribution?I cannot download those large ISO files.

Contact any Gnu/Linux user groups in you area. This is link for the list of groups
They will surely help you out to get a CD you want
