Older Linux systems sometimes used utilities such as lsdev to summarise installed hardware. On modern distributions, a small set of more focused commands usually gives better information.
Useful hardware commands
lspci— PCI devices such as network, storage and graphics controllers.lsusb— USB devices.lsblk— block devices and storage layout.lscpu— CPU architecture and topology.dmidecode— firmware-reported system information where supported.
lspci
lsusb
lsblk
lscpuFor driver and kernel details, combine these with lspci -k, journalctl -k, or dmesg as appropriate.
This page replaces the old lsdev-specific note with a more useful modern hardware-discovery reference.
