Network printers are usually easier to manage when you know the printer IP address, queue name and protocol being used. On Linux systems, printing is commonly handled through CUPS.

Useful checks

lpstat -p
lpstat -v

These commands show configured printers and the device URI used by each printer.

Check CUPS service

systemctl status cups

When troubleshooting, confirm that the printer is reachable on the network and that the Linux machine can resolve or contact the printer address.

ping printer-ip-address

For modern systems, use the desktop printer settings or CUPS web interface to add the printer after confirming the network details.
