You can schedule a Linux shutdown from the command line. This is useful for temporary maintenance, lab machines, downloads or systems that should power off after a task window.
Shut down after a delay
sudo shutdown -h +30
This schedules a halt or power-off in 30 minutes, depending on the system.
Shut down at a specific time
sudo shutdown -h 23:30
Cancel a scheduled shutdown
sudo shutdown -c
Only schedule shutdowns on shared systems after warning other users. On servers, check active sessions and running jobs first.
